....but my AWD Wagon is stilI here for rainy day mudding!!!
I found an open contruction site by work and had some fun on the way home. I got stuck twice but giving it more throttle worked fine (Yay Torsen diffs and no ESP) It's been raining all day and it was some very soft clay/sandy mud.
Body stayed clean for the most part... odd. I guess the old clumsy wagon might have a hint of true QUATTRO in there somewhere. Who owns a newer Audi and wants to join me next time?...... no one? Typical newer Audi* owners. Too fancy for any old school fun with the family.
*exc TT, R8

Aweeesoommmmeee! I'll mail you a cookie.
I totally should find a dirt lot and give my A4 a little history lesson about it's roots.

I fully appreciate how much fun you must be having in this. Having never driven a Quattro I have no honest experience of their road-holding, but sitting behind one at a T-junction yesterday (2.0T), the guy gave it a squirt from stationary and it was like he pressed a damn hyperdrive button or something. No drama, no clutch-slip or wheelspin, he just went at about double the rate I'd expected. I was impressed enough to stop looking at Subaru Legacys last night on Autotrader and have a gander at some Quattro estates instead

road handling is honestly not good. Quite poor actually. I joke about my car being the underateer king. I've had 4 bimmers and 2 Mercs. Those were much more precise driver's cars. This is too nose heavy and has a lot of push. It has plenty of grip, but once at the limit, it looses it very quickly like a new Volvo. Very grippy, but very sloppy.
Having said that, it is always a better feeling knowing all 4 wheels are spinning on a loose suface. Sooo much fun. I'm no Ken Block, but it is much more manageable hooning than its tail happy RWD competitors in those situations.

too soft and heavy to rallyx. My front end sticks so far forward (which is basically the engine lol)

Goddamnit I need something fun and fairly practical and economical which is either 4wd or rwd and not a bloody Land Rover. Nose heavy isn't the most appealing concept, can't imagine the wallow if you have to touch the brakes in a corner. Thanks for the info though.

It didn't have any suspension or tire modifications, it probably had a tune or something to put it in prepared. What I'm saying is that you can easily do it with your car.
